I've been working in the electricity industry for longer than I care to remember. And if anyone can pledge to publish my unfinished novel, I'd be glad to stop any day now.
However, even if I stopped earning my keep from the industry, I wouldn't stop caring about it--or worrying about it. The truth is, you can't think about electricity without thinking about economics and the environment as well. They are three sides of a pyramid with human need/consumption as the base.
The electricity industry is the largest single industry in these United States and without quality, accessible, reliable and affordable electricity at our fingertips, America would cease to be the recognizable--our economy would falter, our environment would suffer, our security would weaken, and we'd all be cursing the darkness and shivering (or sweating) in our beds.
It's that important.
So...what of it? I've written three books on the subject of electricity. The first was for engineers, the second dealt with the new electricity economy and the third was an attempt to drive home the points made above. I encourage you to rush right over to Amazon and buy the last one, Lights Out, now. Or read an excerpt here.
Lights Out was favorably reviewed in newspapers, journals and blogs from across the country. Since its publication, I've traveled all over speaking about the issues covered in the book. To find out more about my career in the industry and to read what others said about the book, to listen to interviews and to get more information about the topics covered and the presentations given about them, click here: http://www.pearlstreetinc.com/jm.html.
